Being a chiropractor
My favorite moments from being a chiropractor in a prenatal and pediatric setting are:
1. Dads who know the exact lyrics to nursery rhymes, putting up a performance unabashedly to calm their little one. I remember this man in his army attire, lying on the floor with a bunny to pacify his daughter as she gets adjusted.
2. Realizing how much work, courage, and vulnerability is needed to bring up a child.
3. Family members showing up for appointments together, choosing to make time for their loved ones. It warms my heart to see adults accompanying their elderly parents, and young couples with their little ones committing to weekly appointments together. Being there for your loved one as they regain health is a special experience, it is an opportunity to understand better the wins and challenges they're going through.
4. Seeing practice members understand health differently, and become more aware, and mindful of their bodies.
5. Everyday, we see birth, sickness, and old age. From congratulating a new mum, to mourning a miscarriage, to celebrating a child's new milestone. Everyday, we get to see love, courage and resilience.
